Maritime and Energy Attorney Julia Palmer Joins Holland & Knight in Houston

HOUSTON (August 11, 2016) – Maritime and energy attorney Julia Palmer has joined Holland & Knight’s Houston office as a partner. She was formerly a shareholder with Gray Reed & McGraw, P.C.

"We are extremely pleased to have Julia on our team and to expand our service capabilities to the Houston market," said Jim Hohenstein, the leader of Holland & Knight’s Maritime Practice Group. "Julia is a respected and versatile lawyer, whose experience extends beyond traditional maritime work. Her credentials will help us continue to grow a premier and well-rounded litigation practice in Houston."

Ms. Palmer’s practice focuses on marine, energy and insurance issues. For more than 30 years, she has handled marine and energy litigation, including collision cases, hurricane losses, onshore and offshore oil and gas claims, hydraulic fracturing cases, marine and energy products liability litigation, the defense of personal injury and death actions, contract and lien claims, dock and stevedore liabilities and subrogation litigation. She also counsels domestic and international clients on a wide variety of complex insurance coverage issues.

"I’m thrilled to be joining one of the largest and most geographically diverse maritime practices in the U.S.," said Ms. Palmer. "It is my hope that the firm’s shipping and energy clients will view our Houston office as a strong resource in the future, similarly to our New York, Washington, D.C., Boston, Florida and California offices."

Ms. Palmer received her B.A. degree from the University of Dayton and her J.D. degree from South Texas College of Law. She is active in the Maritime Law Association of the United States and the President of the Houston International Seafarers' Center. She is a founding trustee of the Houston Maritime Museum and now serves on the advisory board.
