Obama’s Sick Leave Order Survives Under Trump for Now

The Obama executive order requiring federal contractors to provide paid sick leave might still be in effect. The Trump administration had once considered reversing the executive order, but now it is no longer a priority.

“With all of the things the new administration is trying to accomplish, these regulations may be the equivalent of eating dessert after a big meal: it may come much later or one’s plate may be too full to have the appetite to get it at all,” Attorney Eric Crusius said.

As advocacy continues, the number of employers who would find relief from any presidential repeal will diminish. An issue that businesses may face is convincing the administration that sick leave is unlike the paid family leave pushed by the Trump administration.
