Senate's Vanilla FAA Funding Fix Skirts Tough Issues

The Senate has introduced the Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization Act of 2016 that lays out provisions to fund the agency's programs. Regulators, lawmakers and other stakeholders are eager to have a definitive solution that FAA programs will be adequately funded for the long haul.

"The [Senate] bill reads like it's a product of some significant negotiations amongst the senators. There are provisions for everyone to like and provisions for everyone to dislike," said Transportation Partner David Whitestone. "It's reflective of a serious attempt to avoid the cycle of temporary extensions we've seen in the past."
