Supreme Court Won't Hear HUD Appeal Over Section 8 Grants

Law360

The Supreme Court will not hear the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) case on weather it must use contracts rather than grants to fund its administration of Section 8 public housing projects. Government Contracts Attorney Bob Tompkins weighed in on the ruling.

"The Federal Circuit Court's decision was unanimous and unequivocal, and above all it allows for a common sense approach to government contracting," said Mr. Tompkins. "Now that all HUD's legal remedies have been exhausted, HUD should immediately reinstate a formal, competitive procurement process in the project-based Section 8 housing program to ensure taxpayers receive the highest quality service at the best price."
