Tax Planners Not Banking On An Estate Tax Repeal

Though House Republicans are moving forward with legislation to increase the estate tax exemption, legal professionals are advising clients to hold off on preparing for the changes due to the uncertain political climate.

Such whiplash is unlikely to stop if Republicans in Congress are successful at getting their tax bill passed into law, Edward F. Koren, a partner at Holland & Knight LLP, said. Koren said at the very least he was not recommending any changes for his clients until a bill is actually passed and signed by President Donald Trump.
