Thousands of Labor Suits Could Hit Queue If Courts Furloughed

Government Contracts Partner Eric Crusius spoke with Bloomberg Law on how thousands of labor suits will be stalled as soon Jan. 25, 2019, due to the government shutdown. Mr. Crusius explains that criminal cases will be given court priority after January 25 if there is no staff to process employment law cases.

“If the courthouse is closed and a document filing is necessary, same day in-person filing may not be available,” Mr. Crusius said. “Because this is unchartered territory, it is unclear how the courts will handle these varying sticky situations.”
