How GSA is Dealing with Breach of Gov't Contract Database

Government Contracts Partners Robert Tompkins and Mary Beth Bosco co-wrote a Law360 article to provide updates on the General Services Administration (GSA) data breach. The GSA's System for Award Management (SAM.gov) database—in which all federal contractors must register—had been compromised in March 2018, leaving several contractors at risk of having their valuable information and government payments diverted by third-party fraudsters.

In an April 2018 notice, the GSA outlined the steps they were taking to resolve the cybersecurity issue and provided instructions for contractors to follow. In their article, Mr. Tompkins and Ms. Bosco reiterate what federal contractors should do and be aware of in order to continue their access to SAM.gov and their ability to be awarded contracts, as well as how to be more proactive in self-monitoring and protecting their own data.
