Pemex's E&P Integrated Service Contracts: A General Overview and the Upcoming Projects

In a move designed to significantly increase its oil and gas production, Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) recently approved a new model service contract for exploration and production projects in Mexico. This "Model Contract" is the result of the latest legislation changes directed at increasing investment interest from domestic and foreign oil companies. The Model Contract marks an important step towards production-based cash payments in the Mexican E&P industry, and is expected to be released in a bid round for a number of southern region mature oil fields scheduled for the first quarter of 2011.
