In the article, Ms. Morris provides a compelling account of litigation emanating from the destruction of the levee that protected the Lower Ninth Ward in New Orleans as a result of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Although some press accounts and witnesses suggested prior to trial that a barge which broke loose from its mooring caused the breaching of the levee, the court ruled otherwise.
