Energy attorney Elizabeth Craddock and Senior Policy Advisors Elizabeth Noll and Beth Viola, co-authored an article featured in Pratt's Energy Law Report about Senator Joe Manchin's Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024 (S. 4753). The article discusses the bill's passage through the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources and its aim to streamline permitting processes for various energy projects, including fossil fuels, renewable energy and transmission lines. The authors detail the bill's seven titles, which address issues such as accelerating claims, federal onshore and offshore energy leasing, electric transmission, electric reliability, liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports and hydropower. They also highlight the bipartisan support for the bill in committee and note that while further work is needed, the legislation represents a careful balancing act to advance both energy production and emissions reduction efforts.

The authors also published a Holland & Knight alert on this topic.
