Amazon Is Hawking Fake Cashmere, Industry Group Claims

Litigation attorney Robert Kaler was quoted in a Law360 article about Cashmere and Camel Hair Manufacturers Institute v. Amazon.com Inc. In this case, an international cashmere trade association, represented by Mr. Kaler, sued Amazon and one of its vendors in Massachusetts federal court, saying the online retail giant is tarnishing the material's reputation by allegedly selling knockoffs falsely advertised as being 100% cashmere. 

"The legal claims in this case address the importance of truth in advertising in an Internet age where the marketplace is global," said Mr. Kaler. "What is at stake for CCMI and its members around the world is the integrity of the part of that marketplace that deals with their particular product, high quality cashmere."
