Chevron Case: Supreme Court Could Take Sledgehammer to Agency Power

Litigation attorney Timothy Taylor was quoted by The Hill in an article about the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to hear a case that could have far-reaching implications for administrative agencies. The case in question challenges the 39-year-old precedent established in Chevron U.S.A. v. Natural Resources Defense Council, which created what is known as Chevron deference. "Scaling back, I think, is the more likely outcome rather than outright overruling. There are a fair number of Chevron skeptics on the court, but again, that would be a very dramatic change," he said.
