Executive Order Targets 'Green New Deal'
Thomson Reuters
Tax attorney Nicole Elliott was quoted in a Thomson Reuters article discussing the implications of President Donald Trump's executive order that targets clean energy disbursements associated with the "Green New Deal." The executive order, titled "Unleashing American Energy," places a pause on funding under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), which has led to questions about the future of clean energy tax credits. However, Ms. Elliott noted that because the order specifically pertains to appropriated funds, it is unlikely to directly affect these tax credits.
"[The EO] talks about appropriated funds and tax credits are not appropriated. So, my take on this is that that executive order does not impact the Inflation Reduction Act tax credits," she said.
