House Speaker Plans Vote on Taiwan Double Taxation Relief Bill
Tax attorney Joshua Odintz was quoted in a TaxNotes article discussing the uncertainty around the progression of a bill in the U.S. Senate to address double taxation between the United States and Taiwan, despite overall agreement on its necessity. He highlighted the Senate's internal disagreement concerning the inclusion of child tax credit changes, which complicates the bill's advancement. Mr. Odintz noted that the Taiwan tax bill might advance independently, but its movement relies on decisions by Senate leaders regarding the legislative schedule and the possibility of passing it through unanimous consent.
"It is unclear whether adding the Taiwan tax bill to the Rules Committee rules will affect movement in the Senate. The four corners agree the Taiwan tax bill should become law," he said.
