After Supreme Court Ruling, Trump Administration Gains Leverage to Limit Environmental Reviews

The National Law Journal
Environment attorney Rafe Petersen was quoted in The National Law Journal about the U.S. Supreme Court's recent ruling that limits plaintiffs' ability to challenge infrastructure projects based on environmental reviews. The decision, which supports the Trump Administration's efforts to narrow the scope of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), is expected to accelerate project approvals but raises concerns about the adequacy of environmental impact assessments. Mr. Petersen explained that the ruling offers the administration a way to revise NEPA regulations and advance its agenda.

"I think what the Supreme Court has done is given the administration a justification for a lot of things that it was probably already planning and doing. The administration now has a clear road map in amending NEPA," he said.
