MIAMI – May 17, 2011– Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that Kelly-Ann Cartwright is the recipient of the Sharing the Power Award in InsideCounsel magazine's Second Annual Transformative Leadership Awards. The awards, which will be presented at a gala dinner and reception in conjunction with InsideCounsel’s 11th Annual SuperConference, honor women in-house counsel and law firm partners who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing the empowerment of women in corporate law.
The Sharing the Power Award is presented jointly to a woman general counsel or senior leader in a law department and a woman partner at a law firm who have collaborated to increase the economic empowerment of one or more women partners in that firm.
This year, Kelly-Ann will accept the award jointly with Teri Plummer McClure, Senior Vice President of Legal, Compliance & Public Affairs and General Counsel of UPS. UPS has been a client of Holland & Knight's for 14 years. Kelly-Ann and Teri's management of this successful relationship has benefitted both of their careers and given valuable work experience to several other women and minority attorneys involved in UPS legal matters.
Kelly-Ann is currently the Executive Partner of the firm's Miami office and a member of the firm's Directors Committee. She practices in the area of general civil and commercial litigation, with an emphasis on employment discrimination, civil rights, business torts and labor law.
The winners were selected by a National Awards Committee, comprising of general counsel from leading corporations and partners at top law firms. The committee is co-chaired by Allstate Insurance Company's Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer, Michele Coleman Mayes and InsideCounsel magazine's Editor-in-Chief, Cathleen Flahardy.
The winners from each awards category will be honored at the May 24th awards ceremony at the Fairmont Chicago. The 2010 awards dinner was attended by more than 250 corporate legal executives, including in-house counsel and law firm lawyers.
