The Federal Bar Association’s Tampa Bay Chapter Honors Joseph Varner with George C. Carr Memorial Award
TAMPA, Fla. (December 14, 2015) – Holland & Knight partner Joseph Varner received the prestigious George C. Carr Memorial Award from the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Federal Bar Association (FBA) at the organization’s annual luncheon on Dec. 10.
The George C. Carr Memorial Award, named after United States District Court Chief Judge George C. Carr, recognizes excellence in federal practice and distinguished service to the FBA. It is presented annually to a lawyer who exemplifies Judge Carr’s characteristics of common sense, integrity and service.
“This is the highest award given by the Tampa Bay chapter of the Federal Bar Association, which is the eighth largest federal bar association in the country,” said Brad Kimbro, executive partner of Holland & Knight’s Tampa Bay region. “Receiving the award is quite an honor. The lawyers at Holland & Knight are especially proud of Joe for this well-deserved recognition.”
Mr. Varner, who is a past president of the FBA Tampa Bay Chapter, is an experienced and accomplished trial lawyer and has focused on civil trial practice in Florida for his entire career. At Holland & Knight he serves as practice group leader for the firm’s Tampa litigation group and is a member of the firm's Directors Committee.
Mr. Varner is a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, has been named one of the Top 10 lawyers in Florida by Super Lawyers, and has been certified in civil trial law for more than 20 years. Mr. Varner has received much other recognition for his professional accomplishments, including listings in Chambers USA, The Best Lawyers In America and the Florida Trend Legal Elite Hall of Fame.
