Holland & Knight Names José Sirven New Business Section Leader

MIAMI (February 26, 2020) – Holland & Knight Managing Partner Steven Sonberg has appointed José Sirven to serve as the new leader of the firm’s Business Section, the largest of four sections through which the firm delivers its services to clients.

"Joe has contributed greatly to the firm’s success over the past 10 years," said Mr. Sonberg. "He has served in key leadership positions at the firmwide, office and practice levels and has been a close advisor to me over the years on myriad issues relating to our strategy, practices, and international offices and initiatives."   

Mr. Sirven is a partner in Holland & Knight’s Miami office and most recently co-chaired the firmwide Financial Services Practice Group. He has practiced in the financial services, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and cross-border fields for more than 30 years. Much of his practice has involved Latin America and assisting U.S. and European clients in the region. At Holland & Knight, Mr. Sirven has served on the firm's Directors Committee, including chairing its Budget and Finance Committee, and on the Practice & Operations Committee, has led the firm’s international offices and initiatives, and is a former executive partner of the Miami office. 

Mr. Sirven succeeds James McDermott, who has led the Business Section for 12 years and will work closely with Mr. Sirven as chair emeritus of the section. 

Holland & Knight's Business Section has more than 550 lawyers in three major areas – corporate transactions, finance and financial services, and private wealth services. The firm’s other sections are Government, Litigation and Real Estate.
