Andrew M. Cummings

Andrew Cummings is a litigation attorney in Holland & Knight's Newport Beach and Los Angeles offices. Mr. Cummings focuses on complex contractual breach claims, business fraud, shareholder and partnership litigation, class action defense, real estate and construction disputes, and bankruptcy-related matters.

Mr. Cummings represents financial institutions, real estate developers and corporate clients in high-stakes commercial disputes throughout California and Nevada, with a track record of resolving complex matters through trial, appeal and strategic early resolution. He has extensive experience litigating in state and federal courts in California and Nevada. He has argued before the California Court of Appeal and handled several matters before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

In addition, Mr. Cummings represents corporate clients confronting complex business disputes involving fraud, business torts, consumer claims and government regulatory actions. He regularly represents national financial institutions and lenders in litigation arising from fraud, restructuring and loan recovery, and he advises real estate developers on disputes involving large-scale residential construction projects. Mr. Cummings also has significant experience representing clients in trade secret and noncompete matters, as well as defending consumer finance class actions under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and related statutes. He has represented and counseled clients across a variety of industries, including real estate, financial services, pharmaceuticals and technology.

A recognized leader within his firm and the legal community, Mr. Cummings co-chairs Holland & Knight's Public and Charitable Service Committee in Newport Beach, overseeing dozens of pro bono representations and community service initiatives across Southern California. He has represented pro bono clients in asylum applications, public funding matters for a documentary film and music licensing rights for a nonprofit institution.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Mr. Cummings practiced at a boutique litigation firm in Irvine, California. Earlier in his career, he practiced at the Orange County office of a global law firm, where he was part of the business litigation team.

Prior to law school, Mr. Cummings served as a sports director at the YMCA, where he developed and oversaw a variety of youth sports and community outreach events – an experience that continues to inform his commitment to mentorship and community service leadership.
