Malcolm Deisz

Malcolm Deisz advises developers, investors and community development stakeholders on complex financing transactions that support affordable housing and economic development initiatives. As a member of Holland & Knight's Tax Credit & Community Development Finance Practice, he helps clients structure and execute transactions involving the low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) and New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC), guiding projects that expand access to housing and drive investment in underserved communities.

Malcolm brings a practical understanding of the housing market that extends beyond legal advisory work. Before becoming an attorney, he worked as a social worker, helping families navigate housing assistance and rental subsidy programs. This experience informs his perspective on affordable housing development and the real-world impact these projects have on individuals, families and communities.

Malcolm advises clients on the business and tax considerations that arise throughout the life cycle of tax credit-financed transactions, including representing fund syndicators in connection with upper-tier investment structures, helping align legal strategy with project goals and financing objectives. His experience allows him to bridge legal, financial and community development priorities in a way that supports successful project execution.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Malcolm practiced at a midsize law firm, where he advised clients on a broad range of corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), corporate governance, contract negotiations and financing transactions. His corporate background provides additional insight into transaction structuring, risk management and business decision-making, which he brings to his tax credit and community development finance practice.
