Overview
Dayna M. Hutchins advises syndicators and investors on the structuring, negotiation and closing of equity investments in multifamily housing developments that qualify for federal low-income housing tax credits (LIHTC) and other tax incentive programs. Clients turn to her to help navigate the legal, tax and financing complexities of affordable housing transactions, particularly those involving layered subsidy structures and multiple sources of public and private capital.
Since joining Holland & Knight in 2005, Dayna has closed hundreds of tax credit transactions involving sophisticated financing arrangements, including complex debt and subsidy structures, tax-exempt bond financings and 80/20 projects. She works closely with clients to develop investment structures that align tax credit benefits with broader business and project objectives while addressing regulatory and transactional considerations.
Her practice includes transactions that combine LIHTCs with a wide range of federal, state and local subsidy programs. By pairing technical tax knowledge with practical judgment, she helps clients manage the unique challenges that arise in affordable housing investments and multifaceted real estate development projects.
In addition to her client work, Dayna has served on the Firm's Director's Committee since 2022 and is co-chair of the Partnership Subcommittee.
