Overview

Katia Sophia Leiva is a litigation attorney in Holland & Knight's Houston office and a member of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice. Ms. Leiva focuses her practice on complex litigation, including breach of contract, medical negligence, consumer disputes, employment, wrongful death, shareholder disputes, and oil and gas/maritime litigation.

Ms. Leiva's litigation experience includes drafting pleadings, drafting and arguing motions, and discovery management in state, federal and arbitration proceedings.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Ms. Leiva worked as a law clerk in the immigration field for more than four years, where she managed hundreds of cases, drafted motions and briefs and corresponded with clients, courts and government officials. She also gained advocacy skills as a public service extern with a New Orleans-based nonprofit.

While in law school, Ms. Leiva served as the senior articles editor of the Tulane Law Review, a student intern with the Tulane Immigrant Rights Clinic and a research assistant for a leading immigration law scholar. Additionally, Ms. Leiva served on the executive board of the Latinx Law Student Association and the Immigration Law Society, and was a member of the Tulane Maritime Law Society.
