Overview

Maggie P. Pahl is an environmental attorney in Holland & Knight's Washington, D.C., office and a member of the Public Policy & Regulation Group and Environmental Team. Ms. Pahl focuses her practice on a wide range of environmental and administrative litigation, regulatory compliance and transactional matters.

Ms. Pahl has assisted clients with issues under various environmental laws such as the Administrative Procedure Act (APA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and other similar federal and state legal frameworks. She also counsels oil and gas clients on decommissioning strategies and compliance obligations.

On behalf of various clients, Ms. Pahl regularly appears before the Interior Board of Land Appeals (IBLA) to challenge decisions issued by U.S. Department of the Interior agencies, including the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) and Office of Natural Resources Revenue (ONRR).

With a focus on regulatory compliance, Ms. Pahl has assisted companies in responding to government subpoenas and information requests and has continued to support those clients through subsequent enforcement proceedings.

In the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) space, Ms. Pahl advises corporations and individuals on environmental and regulatory compliance risks, helping them navigate complex transactional landscapes.

Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Ms. Pahl served a one-year clerkship for the Honorable Gary Potters in the family division of the New Jersey Superior Courts, Hudson Vicinage.

While in law school, Ms. Pahl was an inaugural scholar for the Sustainable Business Law Hub Scholars Program and a senior associate for the Pace Environmental Law Review. She interned for the Honorable Vera Scanlon in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, as well as with a private equity investment firm, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Hazardous Waste and Toxic Substances Branch.
