Overview
Joy Patterson is a litigation attorney in Holland & Knight's Nashville office and a member of the Labor and Employment Group. Ms. Patterson represents clients across industries and assists them with a variety of employment-related disputes.
Ms. Patterson's experience includes defending employers against claims under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) and Tennessee Human Rights Act (THRA).
Ms. Patterson also supports clients with compliance matters by conducting internal investigations and drafting workplace policies designed to prevent future litigation and minimize liability.
While attending law school, Ms. Patterson served as a research assistant to Professor Matthew P. Shaw, worked as a supervised student attorney in the Housing Law Clinic and completed an externship with the Honorable Robin Kimbrough-Hayes of the General Sessions Court of Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County.
Prior to law school, Ms. Patterson gained legal experience as a paralegal for a small full-service law firm in San Antonio, Texas.
