Meghal B. Shah

Meghal Shah advises national tax credit syndicators and investors on the legal and financing structures that support affordable housing investments financed through federal low-income housing tax credits (LIHTCs) and other tax incentive programs. She guides clients through the structuring, negotiation and closing of complex equity investments, helping them navigate legal, tax and financing issues while aligning transaction structures with their business objectives and strategic goals. Based in Boston, Meghal is a member of Holland & Knight's Tax Credit & Community Development Finance Practice.

With more than a decade of experience in affordable housing finance, Meghal represents clients in transactions that combine multiple layers of debt, equity and subsidy financing. Her experience includes mixed-finance public housing developments, tax-exempt bond financings and other complex affordable housing transactions, helping clients address the challenges that arise when multiple funding sources and program requirements intersect in a single development.

In addition to her client work, Meghal serves on the advisory board of the New England Women's Affordable Housing Network (WAHN).

Before attending law school, Meghal was a certified public accountant in PwC's assurance practice in New York, where she audited Fortune 500 companies in the banking and capital markets industries. That experience provided her with an early understanding of the financial institutions that remain among the most active investors in the LIHTC market today.
