Overview

James Toohey is a litigation attorney in Holland & Knight's New York office and a member of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice. Mr. Toohey focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation involving a variety of industries and issues, including contract disputes and asset recovery.

Mr. Toohey also has experience representing corporations and individuals in investigations and prosecutions spanning a breadth of criminal and compliance issues, including defending clients against criminal prosecutions and conducting internal investigations.

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Toohey performs substantial pro bono legal work and has represented victims of domestic violence in family court matters.

While in law school, Mr. Toohey served as a senior articles editor for the St. John's Law Review and interned with the Office of the Nassau County Attorney.

Prior to law school, Mr. Toohey worked for the Nassau County Civil Service Commission, where he implemented New York State Civil Service law and local rules to regulate public sector employment.
