Public Policy & Regulation attorney Micah J. Burbanks-Ivey will be participating in a panel at the 9th Annual National HBCU Pre-Law Summit & Law Expo 2022 in Washington D.C. His panel, "Law Firm Access and Advancement Demystified: All the Things First-Generation Future Black Lawyers Need to Know NOW About Preparing for Professional Success in Law Firms (But Often Learn the Hard Way or When It's Too Late)" will address the realities of the recruitment and selection process and what aspiring Black lawyers should try to gain from summer internships and associate opportunities. Further, they share the realities of retention concerns and statistics facing Black men and women lawyers including common reasons why they leave law firms. Other topics include what law students should look for in firms before pursuing employment, what it takes to advance to partnership and perspectives on how people have used their law firm experience as a launching pad for succeeding in legal and other environments.
