Not Your Grandmother's EJ

Environmental attorney Jose Almanzar will participate in the 2025 Northeast Sustainable Communities Workshop (NSCW) hosted by the Brownfield Coalition of the Northeast (BCONE). This year's theme, "Brownfields 360°," reflects a focus on the entire life cycle of brownfield transformation, from assessment to redevelopment to project completion. Mr. Almanzar will talk about the evolution of environmental justice (EJ), tracing how modern EJ initiatives are influenced by climate change, climate resilience, economic equity and emerging technology. He will elaborate on how these changes have led to new perspectives on and fresh approaches to policy, advocacy and community engagement.
