Litigation attorney Monica Perkowski will participate in the American Bar Association Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section's (ABA TIPS) 50th Annual Insurance and Life, Health & Disability Benefits Conference. Taking place in La Jolla, California, the two-day conference will cover the latest in employee benefits, insurance law and regulation, and Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) litigation, from the incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI) into everyday practice to IRS and U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) rulemaking to the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in Cunningham v. Cornell University. Ms. Perkowski's presentation will take place on the first day of the event and will review recent litigation involving ERISA and employee benefits, in particular retirement plans, with cases on pension risk transfers, plan forfeitures and breach of fiduciary duty claims. The session will offer a primer for practitioners looking to get up to speed as trials and appeals make their way through the courts.
