Effective Engagement with Agencies
Special Institute on Federal Administrative Practice in the Context of Project Development, The Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law (FNREL)
Boulder, Colorado 80302
Environmental attorney Jason Hill will speak at The Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law's (FNREL) Special Institute on Federal Administrative Practice in the Context of Project Development. The two-day program will equip natural resource project developers with the knowledge and tools to navigate federal administrative law in permitting and related processes, an area that remains in flux as foundational doctrines and longstanding assumptions around agency authority and judicial review have been overturned or significantly narrowed. Mr. Hill's session will take place on the first day of the event and will impart practice guidance for engaging with administrative agencies. He will explain when to initiate engagement and who should conduct outreach, as well as what not to do when interacting with the government. The presentation will additionally cover differences among project types (mine plan, oil and gas development, right of way, etc.), coordination with non-lead federal agencies and state offices, and use of reimbursable agreements.
