Adjudication of Claims in Deepwater Horizon Case Streamlined by 'Lone Pine' Order

Six years ago, while drilling off the coast of Louisiana, the Deepwater Horizon mobile offshore drilling unit experienced a loss of well control, followed by fire and multiple explosions. The damage was so severe that the offshore platform sank two days later, and 11 rig workers died and enormous quantities of uncontrolled oil and hydrocarbons were released into the Gulf of Mexico.
