New York Court Orders Further Review of Body Camera Footage

The New York Supreme Court judge has ordered the NYPD to commit to a body-worn camera pilot program in at least five precincts for one year. This is an attempt to address the Department's violations of the Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments through its "stop and frisk" practices. In July 2014, prior to the beginning of the program, Eric Garner was killed by an NYPD officer and his death was captured on a video recorded on the cellphones of bystanders.
