Foreign Ownership of Real Estate: New Rules from CFIUS
Attorneys Antonia Tzinova, Gordon Griffin and Caroline Bisk wrote an article analyzing rules recently published by the Comittee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) that govern foreign acquisition of real estate. The rules most notably expand CFIUS's jurisdiction over real estate, particularly undeveloped land, and the authors discuss the consequences for buyers and potential landlords to the federal government.
The article originally appeared in the Winter 2019 issue of Thomson Reuters's Real Estate Finance Journal.
