What EPA Chemical Data Deadline Extension Means for Cos.
Law360
Public Policy & Regulation attorneys Meaghan Colligan Hembree, Dimitrios Karakitsos and Senior Policy Advisor Michal Freedhoff co-authored a Law360 article examining the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) decision to extend the deadline for reporting unpublished health and safety studies on 16 chemicals under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). The authors explain that, while the extension gives companies more time to compile robust data, it may also create further delays and regulatory uncertainty in the EPA's chemical safety program, potentially leading to a patchwork of evolving state and federal requirements. They emphasize the need for manufacturers and importers to proactively evaluate their supply chains, closely monitor changing federal and state requirements and engage early with EPA, given the agency's ongoing challenges with TSCA implementation and limited resources.
