New Cuban American Bar Association President Talks Re-Engaging Membership, Visiting Cuba, Promoting Diversity

Attorney Annie Hernandez discusses her goals and plans for the Cuban American Bar Association as its current president.

"One of the biggest things we've been planning for this year is the CABA on Cuba conference the weekend after Labor Day in Key West. We don't necessarily want to be controversial or political because that's not our aim as an organization, but we do like to have that tough discourse that maybe sometimes people just don't want to have," Ms. Hernandez said. "We're champions of human rights. We engage with people on the island, dissidents in particular. So we're trying to balance our mission and our message with the realities of today."
