D.C. business groups float new paid leave proposal

Washington Business Journal

The business community of Washington, D.C. has lately been suggesting a new paid leave proposal requiring employers to offer a minimum of eight weeks paid family leave. This proposal joins the others vying for the council's consideration since the original paid leave legislation was introduced in October 2015.

"We are calling for the chairman and members of the council to get it right with the development of an employer mandate," said Senior Counsel Janene Jackson. "We already have our own leave policies. Just tell us what the parameters are and let us figure it out.”
