How Florida's Biggest Law Firms Develop and Promote Diverse Attorneys
Litigation Partner Tiffani Lee was quoted in a Daily Business Review article about Holland & Knight's efforts to promote diverse attorneys. According to Ms. Lee and other leaders at large Florida law firms, promoting diverse attorneys is about creating opportunities for them to prove themselves.
Ms. Lee explained that the firm has received responses to RFPs where clients have indicated that the firm could enhance its chances of success by partnering with a minority-owned firm or designating a diverse partner to get substantial credit on a matter. In other cases, in-house counsels have said the firm could receive more work if it increased its diversity on a legal team.
“We see the opportunity to be more proactive, not to wait for clients to ask us,” Ms. Lee said. “But to go to clients with these Black- and Brown-led teams and say, ‘we understand your impetus on diversity, we are aligned with you on that, and we have the talent here.’”
