Holland & Knight Snags Jones Walker Energy Industry Atty

Law360

Public Policy & Regulation Partner Jim Noe spoke with Law360 about his decision to join Holland & Knight and what he hopes to accomplish in private practice. Mr. Noe is a leader in the oil and gas industry, offering regulatory and legislative advice to clients while also representing them in transactions and disputes. He spent 18 years working for oil and gas and maritime companies before transitioning to private practice, which he said allows him to better serve clients as the industry undergoes change. Mr. Noe also commented that Holland & Knight's August 2021 merger with Thompson & Knight motivated his move.

"Holland & Knight obviously was one of the preeminent energy law firms in the country. But after the merger with Thompson, (it) really solidified itself as arguably the go-to oil and gas law firm in the country. And given my extensive oil and gas practice, it just was the right thing for me and the right thing for my clients," he said. "...I felt that I could be more effective in private practice in advancing the interest of the industry, and obviously, at a large platform like Holland & Knight, it just felt like the right decision, particularly in light of the fact that the oil and gas industry is facing numerous existential threats, both from a regulatory perspective and just an evolving energy transition."
