Renewable Energy, a Big Bet That Still Has Pending Work
Energy and Natural Resources attorney José Zapata was interviewed by Semana for an article analyzing the challenges associated with the energy transition in Colombia. He highlighted that regulatory clarity and judicial stability with respect to the implementation of projects are key aspects in the development of non-conventional renewable energy sources. He also pointed out that one of the biggest worries right now is the announcement from Colombian President Gustavo Petro to intervene in the country's Commission on Regulation of Energy and Gas (CREG), as well as the timely response of authorities to attend to the difficulties associated with these projects.
"There are essential aspects in legal matters that constitute and will continue to mark the discussion on this topic. The sufficiency of the legal framework to guarantee the effective and timely development of the energy transition; the clarity in regulations so that national and foreign investors can implement projects without setbacks; and improvement in licensing processes and consultation with communities are some," he said.
