House, Senate GOP Diverge on Tax Concerns Ahead of 2025 Talks
Tax attorney Joshua Odintz recently spoke to Tax Notes about the House and Senate Republicans' stances on key tax policy questions as some of the most complex tax negotiations in decades approach. As lawmakers in both chambers prepare to negotiate the extension of Tax Cuts and Jobs Act provisions, House Republicans appear more focused on the national debt than their colleagues in the Senate. Mr. Odintz explained that the November elections could intensify debate over the nation's debt, which, in turn, would affect the size of the package needed to address the expirations.
"That's the first debate that will have to take place on tax reform. And it's not going to be an easy debate," he said.
