K Street Pivots for a Possible Harris Administration
Washington's lobbying firms are gearing up for the potential presidency of Kamala Harris by informing their clients about her stance on various issues. Public Policy & regulation team members Yasmin Nelson and Rich Gold discuss implications of a Harris Administration in the The New York Times.
Senior Policy Advisor Yasmin Nelson discussed her experience with working as an advisor for Vice President Kamala Harris' Senate office. She states that her team's "pretty open door" policy would help keep communication channels open to lobbyists, emphasizing Vice President Harris' willingness to engage K Street to navigate issues effectively.
"On the issues that are important to her, she is definitely going to want to hear from people, and if they happen to be downtown, on K Street, and you’re best positioned to help her through that, then I think she will," she said.
Leader of Holland & Knight's Public Policy & Regulation Group Rich Gold expressed confidence in the firm's ability to maintain a strong position irrespective of the presidential election outcome. However, he noted that the firm is fielding "a lot of questions from corporate clients and our nonprofit clients and cities about 'OK, tell me what this looks like in a Harris Administration.'"
This highlights the growing interest among various stakeholders in understanding the potential implications of Kamala Harris becoming the next president.
