Senate Confirms That the Amount of the 2025 Budget Was Rejected

Administrative law attorney Juan Casallas was interviewed by La República about the rejection of the amount in the 2025 General Budget by Colombia's Senate. Mr. Casallas explained what will happen now with the budget approval, highlighting that the bill could continue going through normal legislative processes or, with certification from the secretary of the Congress, the amount for 2025 would be equal to 2024.

"The first scenario is that the government has until September 25 to present the bill and until October 20 to approve the law. If the amount is not approved during this period, the president will have the ability to approve the budget by decree with an amount of $523.7 billion," he said.
