The Rush to Get Close to Kamala Harris and Her Inner Circle Is On
Public Policy & Regulation Group Leader Rich Gold was quoted in a Politico article discussing the challenges lobbyists face in trying to gain a foothold in Kamala Harris' presidential campaign. Mr. Gold highlighted how Harris' relatively brief tenure in Washington, coupled with her rapid elevation during the election cycle, mirrors aspects of former President Barack Obama's ascent but also complicates predictions regarding her policy priorities and development strategies. He underscored the uncertainty in deciphering whom Harris might listen to and the methods by which her policies may evolve, given her unconventional path to power.
"That combination of her having a short time in Washington, similar to Obama in some ways, and then having been thrust into a campaign where she actually didn't run a full campaign… those two things make figuring out who she will listen to and how policy will be developed more complex than is normally the case," he said.
