"Bombshell" NEPA Court Ruling Riles the Hill

Axios
Environmental attorney Jason Hill was quoted in an Axios article about recent court rulings and legislative developments affecting the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The article highlighted a significant November decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit that effectively vacated the Council on Environmental Quality's (CEQ) authority to issue binding NEPA regulations. This ruling, described as a "bombshell" by Rep. Jared Huffman, could have far-reaching implications for environmental permitting and how Congress and future administrations approach NEPA implementation. It also touched on upcoming U.S. Supreme Court arguments regarding NEPA's scope and the rapidly changing landscape of environmental law. Mr. Hill commented on the recent flurry of changes.

"The last five years, we've seen more change around this area of law than over the last five decades," he said.
