Trump's CFPB: Smaller, Weaker, But Still Standing, Attorneys Say

The National Law Journal

Financial Services attorney Eamonn Moran was quoted in a National Law Journal article commenting on the future of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) amid the Trump Administration's efforts to reduce its size and scope. Mr. Moran explained that major changes to the agency would require new legislation and predicted the CFPB would instead operate across a smaller area of policy and enforcement. He also argued that, although the CFPB's focus may shift, its workforce will probably remain larger than originally anticipated by the president.

"It's going to be a more quote-un-quote disciplined agency with probably a more narrow focus in terms of its priorities. Although I still think that it's going to have more staff working for it than the Trump Administration would have thought initially," he said.
