Economic Emergency Decree: These Are the Tax Benefits and How to Access Them

La FM

Tax attorney Juan Pablo Díaz was interviewed by La FM about the new fiscal measures promulgated by the Colombian government as a result of the State of Economic and Social Emergency declared in December 2025. The government has created new taxes for sectors such as online gambling and hydrocarbons, with the goal of boosting tax collection. Mr. Díaz commented that the National Taxes and Customs Directorate (DIAN) reported more than 237 million pesos in collections between January 1 and January 16, 2026, an initial positive balance. However, he warned, this result is limited compared to the total volume of pending obligations.

"The portfolio of debtors with outstanding payments to DIAN amounts to 36.7 trillion pesos, which shows that there is still a long way to go," he said.
