Dodd Frank Update

Financial Services attorney Eamonn Moran was featured in a Dodd Frank Update article recapping his session titled "CFPB Crosswinds: Making Sense of a Shifting Regulatory Force" during the Consumer Bankers Association's 2026 annual conference. The discussion highlighted major changes at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) since President Donald Trump began his second term, from reductions in force (RIFs) to funding cuts, and shared how financial institutions can plan for compliance as they uncover the effects of these changes in real time. Mr. Moran commented that the shifts caught many practitioners, himself included, off guard, and said the main challenge for the industry will be the lack of consistency from federal regulators as the bureau's future remains up in the air amid guidance and rule withdrawals, ongoing litigation and new enforcement priorities.
