SAN FRANCISCO – Holland and Knight is pleased to announce that San Francisco Partner Jennifer Hernandez has received the 2008 California Lawyer of the Year (CLAY) award by California Lawyer Magazine. Hernandez, will be recognized in the March 2009 issue of California Lawyer for her work with the Tejon Ranch, Co.
Last year, Hernandez coordinated a settlement for the Tejon Ranch, Co. guaranteeing that 250,000 acres of the developer’s private land be protected by an environmental land trust. This unprecedented pre-development agreement consists of The Sierra Club, Natural Resources Defense Council, Audubon California, the Planning and Conservation League and the Endangered Habitats League, all of whom agreed to refrain from opposing these new development projects in exchange for the conservation of other areas of the Ranch.
Hernandez currently co-chairs Holland & Knight’s national Environmental Team and leads the West Coast Land Use and Environmental Law Team. She divides her time between the San Francisco and Los Angeles offices. She has achieved national prominence in her work on brownfields, redevelopment and master planned community projects.
The CLAY awards recognize attorneys across the state whose achievements have made a profound impact on the law. Honorees have changed the law, substantially influenced public policy or the profession, or achieved a remarkable victory for a client or for the public.
