Holland & Knight Awards FAMU Law Student Scholarship and Summer Associate Position
Orlando, Fla. – May 8, 2012 - Florida A&M University (FAMU) College of Law first-year student Michael Harrison, Jr. was awarded the Holland & Knight Scholarship and will participate in the firm’s prestigious Summer Associate Program. The exclusive program provides an opportunity for a select group of law students from across the nation to gain real-world law firm experience, where associates work with experienced lawyers on complex matters for their clients. Holland & Knight instituted its scholarship program in partnership with FAMU in 2008.
"Our partnership with FAMU has been successful for everyone involved," said Holland & Knight partner Glenn Adams. "Mr. Harrison is an impressive student with a lot to offer the legal profession, and we are delighted that he will be joining us this summer."
"We are thrilled that the Holland & Knight law firm has selected one of our students to participate in this tremendous opportunity," said LeRoy Pernell, Dean of the FAMU College of Law. "Mr. Harrison is among our brightest first-year students, and a fine representation of the talent potential attending our law school."
Mr. Harrison was formally presented with the Summer Associate opportunity and scholarship during a meeting at the College of Law with Dean Pernell and Orlando-based Holland & Knight attorneys Glenn Adams and Albert Tellechea, and Human Resource Manager Kathy Molhem in April.
The scholarship will provide full tuition during Mr. Harrison's second year of law school, with an opportunity for renewal during his third and final year of legal studies. The Holland & Knight Scholarship annual recipient will also be recognized during the Annual College of Law Donors Luncheon in Fall 2012, during which several other endowed and major scholarships are announced.
