MIAMI (April 25, 2013) — Steven Sonberg, managing partner of Holland & Knight LLP, began his second term this week. Mr. Sonberg became managing partner in 2008 and was re-elected to a second five-year term without opposition in March.
Mr. Sonberg's re-election followed the firm's announcement of strong financial results for the fourth year in a row. The firm has increased its revenue and profit in every year since the economic downturn began. Since 2009, the firm's net income increased by approximately 25 percent and its profit per partner (PPP) increased by 40 percent. Holland & Knight is currently ranked #52 in The American' Lawyer's annual report of U.S. law firms ranked by gross revenue.
During his first term, Mr. Sonberg focused on increasing efficiency and collaboration across the firm's U.S. and foreign offices. He also presided over the firm's expansion in Colombia and the Middle East and impressive growth in the area of lateral recruitment.
During the firm's recent partner meeting in Orlando, Fla. at which he was elected, Mr. Sonberg stated, "Our firm is stronger than it has ever been – financially, professionally, and institutionally. And we continue to receive high marks from our clients for the quality and value of our client service."
Mr. Sonberg stated that he plans to focus on developing the firm's client base, empowering the next generation of firm leaders, and expanding into new markets and practices during his second term.
